Becoming a Member

Anyone is invited to participate in the worship and the life of The New Church at Boynton Beach by worshiping with us and getting involved with one of our ministries (uses).

Adults (age 20 or more) who wish to participate in the government of the church and align themselves with purpose of the church in sharing the Heavenly Doctrine with others are welcome to become members formally.

To formally become a member, the following steps are necessary.

1. The sacrament of baptism is prerequisite, for it expresses a willingness to be instructed by the Lord and be conjoined with Him in love and faith. (If you have not been baptized in the New Church, the pastor would be happy to answer any questions you have about being baptized.)

2. Membership in the General Church of the New Jerusalem is also prerequisite, for it shows a willingness to align yourself with the belief that the Heavenly Doctrine, together with the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of the Lord for the New Church.  It also expresses an acceptance of the governing principles of the parent church and a willingness to work within its structure.  (If you are not  a member of the General Church, the pastor can help you apply to the executive bishop for membership.)

3. Apply to the pastor for membership in the society (local church) and upon acceptance by him, sign the roll of membership.  (Ask the pastor to see the bylaws and discuss whether you meet the local residency requirements.)
